FW: Cardio is important, but so are other formats

  About a year ago, i was teaching 10 zumba classes a week.  Before that i had put on some muscle,  went to the gym 3x a week, used several supplements, my muscle content went down.  I was getting shin splints, my knee was also threatening to come back and become injured again.  I was overdoing it.  I didnt like the results i was seeing in my body.  I injured my knee the year before, i struggled teaching zumba for about 4 months.  I only put weight on it when i had to ( when teaching class =/ ) hoping for it to heal on its own, but it wasnt until i started doing some weight bearing exercises that it started to heal.  The muscles around my knee where weak, if i had worked some weight / resistance or even body weight training in my routine, i wouldnt have injured it.

As young zumba instructors, most of us dream of having alot of classes and even hold it as a mark of status.  When i had 10 classes a week, i quickly learned that it was dangerous to my health.  After that, i didnt want any more that 4 or 5 zumba classes a week. Cardio training is great for you and great for your heart, but too much of it is unhealthy, and it needs to be supplemented with other kinds of exercise. 

I am setting up Xcite Dance studio classes to be the ideal fitness schedule i would want for myself.  Zumba for cardio, great for your heart and keep fat down. with some dance and fun - i cant live without dance anymore.  RIPPED for toning, strength, and overall health and fitness, when i taught, i would feel AMAZING afterward.  If i ever add anything else, it will be yoga... we will see if that ever happens.
