Introduction to Zumba Classes

Due to popular demand i am now teaching an "Introduction to Zumba" class every other week!  This class will cover all of the fundemental moves we use in zumba;  basic zumba steps for cumbia, reggaeton, merengue, and salsa broken down to the bare bones.  Classes are complementary, but you must RSVP to attend!  Walk ins not permitted!

Heart Rate Program

I am always looking for ways to improve the class.  So today i took a couple steps in encouraging everyone to keep track of their heart rate.



My class isnt one where we adveritise heart rate.  My goal is the highest level of fitness, not the highest heart rate.  If i was to make it a record breaking heart rate class (which with my energy level i could do) then the result of an ultra consistant student in my class would be an ultra skinny (not necesarily low fat %) person with no muscle tone.  To get away from the eating disorder look, I add alot of toning in my classes.  That way i will have patrons husbands telling them to come back because they are looking hott!

Heart rate isnt the most acurate measurement of fitness, but it does give you a relative idea how hard you are pushing.  The idea is to beat your last time, and then you will know how hard you have to push to make sure you are on track.  

So what i am doing is, starting with the class we had tonight, i am taking participants heart rate,  in the middle and end of class.   And  keeping track of it in a log and encouraging them to beat their last time.  Most dont have watches, so i brought a couple loaner watches to borrow.




Anyhow, i would like to encourage everyone to get a heart rate watch.  You can buy them at any sporting good store, or i will try to keep some up front you can buy.  You are coming to zumba, you might as well make sure you are getting the most benefit out of it.  On my end, for those who are going to take this program seriously, i will try to pick great songs and increase the intensity for you to reach your goals.

Thats right guys,  This one was organized by my fellow zumba squad member, Diosa DeAgostine.  If you know anything about her, she is a HUGE zumba event guru and all of her events turn out well.

 What Diosa has done with this, is she has ALOT of different Zumba Instructors Including yours truly teaching at this.  We are going up, and i want EVERYONE, That means,  Xcite Zumba, Anyone who was in the Midvale Mob, West valley Zumba crew, and the Lehi group to come and Represent!  Me, my lovely lady and a handfull of others from the "XZ" Bunch are going.  It is going to be alot of fun.
